CLUB PROFILE The Australian Austin A30 Car Club was formed in 1980 by dedicated enthusiasts keen to promote and preserve as many Austin A30's and A35's as possible, and to give car owners a chance to share ideas and interact. The club covers all Australia and has members in each state. Monthly meetings and events enable members and their families to enjoy their cars and to develop friendships with others with a mutual interest. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 8.00pm in the Uniting Church Hall, 316 Camberwell Road. Camberwell ( a suburb of Melbourne). Many members live interstate or in country Victoria, and are connected to the club via our website and monthly newsletter "A30 Minutes". The many services which the club offers its members include:- Generous spare parts scheme, with the availability of technical advice and assistance. Access to reproduced and hard-to-get maintenance items not generally available to the public Monthly meeting with generous supper provided. From time to time, meeting include technical presentations on car maintenance, tuning and related topics. Monthly club newsletter ( approx 14 pages, magazine format) which keeps members up to date on news and upcoming activities. The newsletter also includes feature articles, photos, technical advice and buy/sell notices. Comprehensive club library with occasional special offers to mail books to members in any part of Australia free of charge. Organised car runs, providing access to private displays of machinery and machinery-related collections. Each year we attend the Winton historic car races and enjoy a fantastic atmosphere. Regular social events including picnics and dinners. An open, friendly, nonpolitical environment where the main focus is for members to enjoy their cars and each others company. New members are welcomed with enthusiasm and given support and advice to maintain and preserve their cars. A range of club merchandise and regalia is available for purchase at low cost. Access to the Vicroads club permit (Red Plate) scheme which permits operation of cars for either 45 days or 90 days per year at a much reduced rate compared to normal registration. Club membership is currently $50 per year (plus a one-off $5 joining fee) which is among the cheapest in Australia. Austin A30 70th Anniversary
On Sunday 17 October 2021 it will be 70 years since the launch of The "New Austin Seven" at the Earls Court Motor Show on 17 October 1951.
The new car cost 507 pounds undercutting the Morris Minor by 62 pounds. It was one of the highlights of the show and the display with doors and centre pillar removed ( see below) was one of the show's most popular exhibits.
